Investment Readiness

New and growing small businesses reach a point where they require new capital to support expansion. Many are not familiar with the process of preparing to seek private capital and have no background on how to present their case for raising investment capital, comply with legal requirements, structure terms of investment or access potential investors.

VJF management and volunteer advisors have relevant background and each year will make our expertise available to a small number of small businesses seeking to raise between $250,000 and $1,000,000 of mainly equity capital. The nature of our support can range from providing our perspective on business valuation for venture investment, to reviewing how information is best presented to an investor audience, to suggesting appropriate legal and financial support and to seeking investors to consider making an investment. Relevant support items will depend on the businesses and their situation. Candidates must have a solid prospect of raising capital, and, while we are supportive of helping grow the jobs base in our region, we will favor businesses that will create jobs that meet our charitable mission.
