Through Baker August Consulting, Rachel supports nonprofit leadership staff and volunteers in a variety of ways that help organizations effectively achieve their goals and maximize their budgets. Rachel offers a range of supports, from one-on-one discussions with a senior staff person trying to work through a specific issue, to small team projects, to developing and implementing a full-scale fundraising campaign. Whatever the challenges, Rachel will employ her professional expertise, community knowledge and flexibility to move the nonprofit to a stronger position of financial health and community influence.
Prior to starting Baker August Consulting in 2014, Rachel was the Executive Director of the Seneca Park Zoo Society for 13 years. In that role, she oversaw all facets of the Zoo Society: Fundraising, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Membership, Admissions and Retail Operations. She raised more than $22 million from individuals, corporations and foundations to fund major capital improvements, ongoing operations, employee development initiatives and conservation projects.
Rachel lives in the Pittsford Village with her companion, Len Parker. She has two children; Madeline is completing her PhD in clinical psychology at The New School in NYC and Nate, a recent Cornell graduate is currently working at the Wegman’s Organic Farm in Canandaigua.
